EVEN SONG (IRE) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) bids to build on a highly promising debut third over seven furlongs at Dundalk eight days ago for Susan Magnier and Aidan O’Brien as she tackles a trip that is far more in keeping with her pedigree. A half-sister to this year’s G1 St Leger and G1 British Champions Fillies and Mares S. heroine Simple Verse (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade {Ire}), she encounters several well-connected fillies including a Juddmonte newcomer in Flagstaff (GB) (Dansili {GB}), a Dermot Weld-trained daughter of the 2003 G1 Prix de la Foret scorer Etoile Montante (Miswaki).

THE MAJOR GENERAL (IRE) (Galileo {Ire}) was a €1.5 million GOFORB purchase for Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, Bernard Kantor and Markus Jooste and makes his keenly awaited racecourse bow in this maiden, which has been dominated by Ballydoyle in recent years and in which Adelaide (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) made his debut two years ago. The full-brother to Jim Bolger’s high-class fillies Cuis Ghaire (Ire), Gile Na Greine (Ire) and Scintillula (Ire) is joined by stable companion Claudio Monteverdi (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a full-brother to another Bolger star in Lush Lashes (GB), as they bid to reach a form standard set by a current Bolger representative in the G2 Beresford S. fourth Stellar Mass (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}).
